Travel Fellowship Awards - Domestic Candidates

The training of a new generation of psychiatric academicians is a major objective of the Society of Biological Psychiatry. Participation in professional meetings, where new information is exchanged and contacts are made, can have a critical impact on the career of a developing clinician-scientist.

In recognition of the importance of academic exchange, the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP) annually selects distinguished young scientists to be a part of our Travel Fellowship Award program.

Each travel fellowship award includes:

$1,500 to help defray the travel and living cost to attend the 2013 annual meeting
Waived registration to attend the 2013 meeting
An SOBP member mentor during the meeting
Opportunity to present a poster or oral abstract without an SOBP member sponsor
Waived registration to attend the 2014 and 2015 annual meeting (no financial award)
Recognition events in honor of the Travel Fellowship Award recipeints

To receive the travel fellowship award, you are expected to attend the entire meeting and be present for the recognition events. Previous Travel Fellowship Award recipients are not eligible.

All travel award recipients will be matched with a meeting mentor and will participate in junior investigator activities throughout the meeting.

Although not required, the Society highly recommends that you submit an abstract for presentation at this meeting. Click here to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation. Oral or Poster abstract deadline is December 13, 2012.

Society of Biological Psychiatry Mentor/Mentee Program

The Society of Biological Psychiatry recognizes the importance of mentoring for your professional development. The mentoring program provides opportunities for early-career biological psychiatrists and neuroscientists to benefit from access to more experienced professionals while giving mentors the opportunity to contribute to the future of the neuroscience profession. The goals of the mentoring program are:

To provide a structured mentoring network capable of assisting junior members in getting feedback on their work and ideas, defining career goals and plans, and supporting relevant education/skill development needs.

To provide an environment that fosters a sense of well-being, acceptance, and inclusion into the culture of SOBP and into the field of biological psychiatry by enhancing junior members’ access to more senior ones through mentorship activities.

The Society will match Travel Award recipients with Mentors based on the information you provide below.
